So what’s holding back so many women business owners? I am convinced that the problem is twofold. First, you have women’s own self-limiting views of themselves, their businesses and the opportunities available to them. But equally problematic are the stereotypes, perceptions and expectations of business and government leaders. It starts with the goals. Access to capital. Access to markets. Access to networks. Then, change the mind-set. Banks need to outreach more to women. Recognize that women learn from women. Think even bigger. In addition, women need to expand their networks beyond women-only networks.
