“ Professional roles which do attract women, such as project management, marketing, graphic design, human resources, and public relations are low-status in the scene, dismissed as not “real” tech jobs, or framed in opposition to the more masculine work of programming. While there are many women in the tech scene, and many men who do not program, the gender inequities within the computer industry affect how women are perceived overall.
